Elected members have congratulated the new High Sheriff for County Antrim, Mr Rupert Cramsie.
Councillors were informed of the appointment at the recent monthly meeting.
Deputy Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Beth Adger MBE, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to offer my wholehearted congratulations to Mr Cramsie on this recent appointment.”
“This is a distinguished role and I wish Mr Cramsie every success in it.”
Welcoming the new appointment, Ald Billy Ashe MBE said: “Mrs Stewart’s appointment as a DL is very well deserved.”
Mrs Stewart lives in Islandmagee and has recently retired as headmistress of Downshire School in Carrickfergus.
Following her distinguished career in the field of education, she was awarded an MBE for Services to Education in 2019.
She is Chairperson of Carrick Connect, an organisation which helps support and encourage disaffected youth towards achieving better social skills and qualifications.
